We have discussed several different work environments developed by management. For example, Amazon’s “…experiment in how far it can push white-collar workers to get them to achieve its ever-expanding ambitions.” (New York Times, August 15, 2015) as contrasted with Google’s “Culture of success and Employee Happiness.” Both companies have been extremely successful in terms of profitability and innovative business strategies and products.
Questions 1: If you founded a company that designs and sells a product or service, what factor would you consider in designing a corporate culture that promotes the business’s growth and profitability?
We have also discussed a number of successful and innovative business executives, ranging from relatively new entrepreneurs such as Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) and Jack Ma (Alibaba) to old-school corporate visionaries like Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway)
Questions 2: Name several characteristics shared by many successful business managers, and give examples. In other words, what has made them successful business leaders?
We have also discussed the recently discovered ethical lapses committed by Volkswagen, EpiPen and Wells Fargo which we have discussed this term.
