1) Life Cycle Nutrition

DUE:

• Find an article from a professional journal or on the WEB that deals with some aspect of nutrition in relation to pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood or the elderly.

Suggested topics could include but not limited to:

• Success (or not) of the WIC program
• Pica/Morning sickness
• Hydration in the elderly
• Failure to Thrive
• Adolescent Pregnancy
• Write a Minimum 600 word summary of the article. Write your reaction of why you chose the article, what you learned and whether you agreed or disagreed with some of the ideas. (Will it be helpful to you in the future?)

2) CHILDHOOD OBESITY

Childhood obesity is now considered a growing epidemic. As of 2012, over one-third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. There are many factors that have been implicated in the increasing rates of overweight and obesity, including poor diet, lack of physical activity, marketing of unhealthy foods, socioeconomic status, and genetics, among many other factors.

For your discussion post this week, choose one factor you see as the greatest driver of childhood overweight and obesity. Write at least 100 words about why you feel this factor is the greatest driver of obesity in children.

3) THE ELDERLY

Name three physiological changes that occur in the elderly and discuss how they affect the nutrient needs of the elderly. Give two examples of what you think could be done to address poor nutritional intake in the elderly Please compose a minimum 100 word
