Guidelines for Film Response Papers
Papers should be approx. 2-3 pages in length, double-spaced, 12-point font.
The response papers are designed to be both analytical and interpretive. By this, I mean that I would like to hear your interpretation and opinion of the film, but would also like to see some significant film analysis. I expect your analysis to be grounded in class readings and/or outside readings. You do not need to “like” the film – feel free to assess what you didn’t like as well.
Response papers should include at least one reference to an outside source (textbook, film review, assigned reading, etc.). All sources must be cited in MLA format.
Your response papers can cover any aspect(s) of the film, but I would like you to refine your paper so that it has a clear focus/flow.
